Zoom for Spouses of Responders

June’s Zoom Training will feature Dr. Medina Baumgart, who will speak about the nervous system and how it impacts communication, connection, and overall well-being in our relationships. This conversation will help spouses better understand and depersonalize some of what first responders may carry home after work, while also increasing awareness of our own nervous systems and emotional health.

Dr. Baumgart is a licensed psychologist in California and a board-certified specialist in Police and Public Safety Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She serves as an embedded psychologist within a law enforcement agency and is married to a retired law enforcement officer. She is also the author of Surviving Retirement and created a self-paced, on-demand retirement course designed specifically for first responder families.

We will continue the conversation and connection through in-person follow-up gatherings throughout the month.

This conversation is designed specifically for the female spouses and significant others of first responders, whether you are brand new to Revitalizing Guardians or have joined us for previous Zoom or in person gatherings. All are welcome!

May Spouse Gathering (Topic: Personalities)

We know May can feel a little chaotic with end-of-school activities and busy schedules, so we’re keeping things simple this month. We’re bringing everyone together in one central location for a fun in-person gathering where we’ll dive into exploring our personality types.

It will be a relaxed and engaging night to connect, learn more about ourselves, and better understand how we show up in the world and how this affects our relationships as well.

This is such a fun and beneficial activity with a larger group so we’re combining both the South and Central groups for this topic on personalities. We’ll be meeting at Adams County Fire Station 11 so we have plenty of space. We will provide some snacks for the evening as well.

There will not be a zoom training this month so we HIGHLY recommend making time to gather for this evening. We look forward to some amazing conversations.

Spring fishing has been absolutely amazing. The winter snow fall has significant impacts on the spring fishing. We will get out and fly fish but not sure if we will be wading or floating. The preference is to float but it will be a game time decision based on flows and conditions. We will meet around 6 am and return to the Denver area between 4 and 7, it all depends on where we end up going.

Anglers of all levels are welcome. We can provide gear if needed. Waders and wading boots in limited sizes. Recommended items: be prepared for all types of weather and bring plenty of layers. Current Colorado fishing license is required.

Come and spend some time on the river chasing trout! This outing will be hosted by Corey Davidson.
